How should I handle the religious differences?

A little while ago I found out the guy I've been crazy about for three years does in fact like me back, but feels it would never work out between us because I'm Lutheran and he's Agnostic. How can I make it clear that I don't care about our differences without making it obvious that I'm trying to make it clear that I don't care about religious differences?
