Is it safe to say that Obama doesn't gravitate toward Redneck friends?

For an intellectual person wouldn't this run counter to normal behavior- I mean who really wants to hear about the latest tic infestation or Farm subsidy changes? Wouldn't it be more interesting to circulate among worldly and wise people who are interesting, not necessarily destructive, the way that they are portrayed?
