Do you think religion causes more problems than it solves?

It isn't usually the religions that do the harm, it's the people who are intolerant or greedy and do their hatred in the name of religion. For example, Olaf Crowbone converted many Vikings to christianity by threatening to kill their wives and children, burn their homes and hang the men by their entrails, or convert. Which option will you choose? The church didn't exactly approve, but hey, it converted the 'savages' who were more socially advanced than the christians... However, it does unify countries and societies against those who would destroy them, it brings people together in times of plenty for praise and times of devastation for their painkiller, their 'Opiate of the People'-usually cheap, helpful, and you get some down time: Where's the downfall? Oh yeah, the entire brainwashing to pain part. Ever wonder why the Russian Revolution took so long? Religion. The people were dulled to pain.
