Nother stupid question...?

I know very little about side arms, but a glock? Sounds like a heavy hitter, wouldn't a Berreta be a better side arm or is it a personal choice? Also I have great reguards towards the police and the dummy who thinks I don't well I dont need to say what I am thinking but the police are number one with me (also the military peaple)
